Advert Graph Research

Advert Conclusion and self evaluation

When i first started my Pop up advert the conventions used were : background, colour, font and imagery.
the reason why there was so little conventions used across the pop up is because of the imagery. I used a grey background we in the middle of black and white, which could represent that it has a simply cool vibe/emotion towards the product. Furthermore, that background was used to make the headphones stand out. The headphones i chose for my advert really helped create a contrast in colour between the background and headphones (white, red & black). This headphones were centre stage of the Advert making audience acknowledge that the most important feature in the advert was the largest thing and the most oblivious thing to see in the ad was the headphones.
I feel the pre-pop up advert i made wasn't good enough to my satisfactory because, it looked to plan for me to find the advert entertaining, in addition, the target audience of my product is 16+ unisex but mainly males. There was no example of a unisexual target audience or any example of the age group the product was targeted at for example allowing the audience to share the advert via social media platforms such as Twitter & Facebook.
Another way i could have made it look more like a pop up advert after reviewing over pop up adverts the all had some common convention which was hyperlinks allowing the internet surfer to either close the ad or allow the ad to take them to another page displaying my information about the product being promoted.
my final point is the description, when people buy Headphones they should be some sort of description on the new features that may appear or a motto which grabs the target audiences attention which i didn't achieve in my first attempt.

However when redesigning my advert I considered all the features (from stylistic codes, to the target audience) which help me create a better final advert.

I Like how i added more realistic features such as the little hand representing the mouse, and interactive social media platforms such asTwitter, Facebook where they could share the ad. Which could result in the audience having access to share the information. Which would reach a larger target audience and make the employee of the advert much more interested into investing in the ad. i decided to adopt the technique of loads online adverts by adding common interactive features like the closing tap but the one of two features which i enjoyed which looked really interesting was the 'Watch the trailer' creating a imagery effect that if the headphones look this good with that small detailed summary of the headphones (which I will discuss next) then how could will the trailer be, which automatically gets the audience talking.

The description
I wanted to add a brief detailed description of product without displaying text which featured money. my short description 'NEWLY IMPROVED PADDED BASS WITH JUST A SWIPE' symbolises that it is an exclusive product due to the fact that you can interactive with the final product by using your hands (Swiping it).

Finally the best part about my advert which got all round positive feedback from my Peers, the target audience & client is the motto and definition. The motto is simply and effective B(the beats logo) yourself which shows a lot of creativity in relating to being yourself and expressing your style.
Simply if nobody understood the meaning behind 'B Yourself' then i added a cool definition to it.

In conclusion it was a really good online pop up advert however taking in all the feedback that was given i would next time add change the font and add my colour to represent a young diverse audience, take a look at more companies with pop up adverts and finally take time by planning my advert but doing small thins like primary research. but overall it is a really good online pop up advert and it is almost seductive in a musical way.

Jeremiah - Alcohol

Principles/Rules & definition of alcohol advertisement.

the products should not be targeted at under 18s and shouldn't stimulate or encourage any examples of anti-socialism, violence, domestic violence in addition any signs of criminal acts or persuade the audience in one way or another that it is acceptable.

Anyone in the advert who appears to look under the age of 25 should not appear in the advert. there should also be seen on drinking suitable places such as pub not at work.

The advert below shows a man who doesn't have a recognisable age to him, walking around looking and acting drunk in the public domain which is in itself is a crime. The man appearing in the ad is naked although their is no sign of his gene-tiles what makes the ad inappropriate is that the man injures him self quite horrifically as blood is show as well which can be distressing to the viewer.

Conventions of Banner adverts - Jeremiah

The advert below is an banner advert for Adidas. The image displayed shows three young boys on top of building where the is open space creating a sense to the viewer that Adidas's clothing range they are promoting makes makes you feel 'young and free' which alternatively means that this particular ad is mainly for boys another convention code used to suggest this is color. The only colors used were Black, white and Blue we usually associate these positive people with young people and male which gives us an overview of the target audience.

all text used are all in capital letter which tells us that every single word is important. But... the most important word which is the biggest font size is the percentage off the product which is a remarkable 80% which is the second biggest subject in the advert. The Most important feature is the brand which is the Adidas logo which is displayed on the top left. another important feature shown is the range of shoe designs. Once again emphasizing and showing how young people love a variety of styles and colors.

The Fifa 15 Commercial advert. show as a series a people from several ages and from both sex's (Aged around 17-19) playing the game. young people like to get involved with gaming content and that is showed in the advert as you see a young Asian male almost physically in the game as when his player in the game gets slide tackled by another user/actor in the advert he does as well showing which is a common feature young people enjoy is communication online. The product is promoted by showing its improved visual graphics and secondary techniques almost secretly the audience they can physically get in the game. Once again we learn the advert/product is for young people by the age restriction (3+) and the type of game it is football although it is a mainly male adult sport is as loved and played by more by young teenagers (13+) another promotinal factor is it's platform is a extremely new and modern which is Xbox one.

In the pop up advert it mainly promoted through word of mouth including social media, we see the interactive button which allows them to watch the full trailer then decide who is victorious.

Jeremiah: evoking negative emotions, e.g. fear, pain, guilt

In this Geico advert we learn that a couple began their lives happily ever after (After being married) almost to find it that they began they're lives together in a horrible cramped house for one year. we see several visuals of the couple looking and feeling depressed due to the fact that they kept on banging their heads against the ceiling which in thats hurts. Being stuck in one small bed which results the audience feeling the need to cringe or feel uncomfortable. In addition the only result the audience the advert can help with is by spending 15 minutes of your time to save 15% or more on car insurance.

This persuasive technique can almost manipulate the audience into feeling that they have to go for Geico's deal, a common motto used is 'every penny counts' which almost relates to this advert symbolising that that £2 you spend extra on mortgage could be gone but having a cheaper car insurance. Furthermore the audience can feel guilty as not saving money could mean not giving their loved ones such as kids, partners or friends vital things they could need ; money, gifts even to the extreme food.

Another persuasive technique used is imagery. the imagery created in the advert creates a sense of fear because you see the husband in the ad trying to walk without banging in his head which can result in the audience feeling 'I don't want my partner to feel like this, i want to live happily ever after and not feel cramped'. which is another way of making the audience feeling guilty almost that it is there decisions as to the fact they are not enjoying life to the fullest (once again return back to the motto 'every penny counts'.

Which makes this advert extremely secretive and persuasive.

Two types of adverts uku

the first geico advert uses its recognisable slogan '15 minutes could save you 15% more on car insurance' in addition a symbolic/traditional feature i have realized is that they tend to show somebody frustrated for a long period of time. In this advert the effect of not using Geico is being looking like a caveman (ugly) whilst trying to get some advice some a therapist to top it off get a phone call from your mother. Seems like a wild copy of minutes ? but the advert is trying to imply that taking this 15 mintues out of your time to save money on car insurance can make you or look better resulting in the opposite fact of the actual advert (wasting time with therapist and being ugly).

How is Geico's Advert effective in selling and Promotion, we get a funny side to majority of Geico's adverts which almost make that, it's unique selling point but i feel it's unique selling point is it's slogan '15 minutes could save you 15% more on car insurance'. this increases its promotion because when ever the audience recognises some of its features (the voice, the circumstance) the feel the need to sing the phrase along which may it catchy. things that are catchy can make things go viral meaning an increase in revenue. although getting somebody to think a certain is inappropriate it is not appropriate due to the fact that it is not harmful through different genres such as it is not to explicit, but may actually be beneficial.

In the Nike wake advert the most recognisable image used in the advert is the nike slogan 'Just. Do. It'. Furthermore besides the slogan how else is Nike recognisable... the advert full of positivity showing people exercising which results in losing weight and getting fit. We can easily associate these movements (exercising) with positive emotions such as feeling refreshed and lively.

Why is the 'Nike wake' advert effective ? according to google when typing in 'how many obese people in the world' if there are over 2.1Billion obese people in the world and approximately at least 1billion people see it and they will get a  sense that wearing nike clothing gives you some sort of energy/power into losing weight or waking you up. Which almost makes your mind think that is the case when in all honesty it is which makes that product's promotion and revenue increase.

Furthermore, another way the promotion is achieved is through celebrity endorsement the audience feel if the celebrities are wearing nike they will be inspired by thier role models to wear it as well. Also, wearing a big expensive brand like implies that wearing the company will make you a better sports person.

How are they similar and different.

Firstly both of their aims is to create a revenue and to make your mind think a certain way. secondly the nike is almost a motivational video capturing different exercising moments in different locations which can make the audience in a more lively because there eyes are seeing several different colours and locations (because nobody likes to say in the same place). Whereas in the Geico advert it is not as lively because the are stuck in one location there is no music in the background (music is an entertaining factor to our emotions) and the dialogue used is all one tone. the caveman responds to the woman in a sarcastic voice 'why does it bother me' which almost implies to the audience that this lady is asking 'stupid, unnecessary questions'. Another way you can say they relate is by the fact that the both share a similar unique selling point which is their slogans.

Old Media sectors comparison with new - Jeremiah

This is a New Media advert for fragrancy found on a website. It is a advergame.

The advert promoting the product of a fragrance, shows cartoon characters a Male and female gazing at each other, as the motto is 'The graphic novel written by you'. Fragrances are simply used in our modern life to make us smell good, which results in getting a variety of attentions the most recognisable one is the sexual. The advert is trying to imply that using you this fragrance will draw closer your sexual appeal/preference.

sector new media platforms examples
  • Phones
  • Gaming Consoles
  • Apps
This is made as a new media product through the use of making it possible for the target audience to interactive with it. Making it being available through communication through Chat rooms, sharing it via Twitter & Facebook. In Addition the advert appearing on Gaming Consoles, apps and phones. Furthermore, it being a pop up allowing the audience to do certain things that makes it possible for them to interact such as 'read the story'. In conclusion all the techniques used make this advert a viral/ popular and interactive advert make the product simply. FUN!!

Another example is due to the fact the new media advertisement is interactive it allows company to have a great revenue because the audience will be ten times bigger than old media advertisements.

Sectors Old Media Platforms Via broadcast

The advert i choose was the Evian Baby Advert. This advert is an example of a TV Broadcast ad because you can view it via TV Services such as Sky, Virgin Media & BT, as well as online on different platforms and Devices like YouTube(Laptop, Game Consoles + More) & 4oD(Tablet/Online).

As series of techniques have been used to direct its target audience. such as emotive imagery. During the advert we see grown ups turn into little kids/babies via their reflection and start having a good time (dancing). When we associate anyone or anything with babies we apply the effect that they are lively, always happy and adorable almost symbolising, When you drink Evian you will be a lively little Child again. Which also can represent its Unique Selling Point.

We feel a sense of positive emotions as we never usually get negative emotions from babies.

There is no real celebrity icon during the ad but showing three or four people (babies as well) acting, could suggest that they are almost the celebrity in the advert as the play the most important role in a 'World Wide Television Advert'
